Congratulations to J.R. and Kiel (and the ENTIRE Cedar National B-Team)! They played their hearts out in the heat - 4 games straight with just a few minutes between each game. And it paid off - they WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP!
They started games on Wed. night - lost to Cedar American the first game (9-5), then won Parowan (31-1) on Thurs. and Enterprise (24-8) on Friday. That took them to Saturday - they got to the field at 10:30 a.m. to practice, won their first game against Washington at 11:30, won their second game against Dixie at 1:00, which got them to the final two games (2:30 and 4:00) - they had to play Cedar American (undefeated thus far) and win them TWICE in order to take the Championship.
Well, they did it! They took 'em down twice in a row and won the whole thing. I could not be happier for J.R. He deserves this as much as the kids do.
Those kids played hard. Their feet were killing them, their legs were cramping up, they were hot and exhausted, their once white uniforms were filthy, but they played hard and showed who the best team was. Congrats Cedar National!!!
(Here's the article in the Spectrum. Not the best writer in the world, but oh well.)
